Share link options to save emails by category or folder reference, resp. Metadata for reuse

Gathering Customer Feedback

Sending links for documents and folders to email recipient is extremely convenience and overcomes email limitation, restriction of the max size of attachments.

The limitation in filecloud:

1. Email addresses are not stored for shared links. Email addresses must be retyped for each shared link. Email addresses can be very long, prone to errors, and must be typed again and again.

2. The creation of email sender lists would be helpful. Shared communication between group of recipients is very common and documents or folders must be shared between group of people.

3. Instead of simple folders, FileCloud should allow the creation of projects. Email recipients could get setup under these projects allowing recipients [project members] the download and upload of documents, based on permission.

Thank you for sharing your Suggestions

We understand the importance of efficient sharing mechanisms, especially when overcoming the limitations of email attachment sizes. To better evaluate the potential impact and feasibility of your suggestions, we would appreciate more detailed insights:

  1. Use Cases: Could you provide specific scenarios within your organization where the ability to save email addresses for shared links and create email sender lists would significantly improve your workflow? This will help us understand the context and the urgency of these features.
  2. Project-Based Collaboration: Your idea for allowing the creation of projects in Filecloud is intriguing. How do you envision this feature enhancing collaboration and file sharing among project members?
  3. Current Challenges: It would be helpful to know more about your current challenges with our system, including any temporary solutions you might be using.

As a potential immediate solution to your concern about retyping email addresses, Filecloud allows you to create direct links to files and folders. These links can be easily copied and pasted directly into the body of an email, allowing you to bypass the need to re-enter email addresses each time you share a link. This method simplifies the sharing process and minimizes the risk of typing errors. For more information on utilizing this feature, please refer to our Creating a Direct Link guide.

Your detailed feedback on these points will be invaluable in helping us understand the potential impact and necessity of such a feature and how we might prioritize its development in the context of Filecloud's roadmap.

We look forward to your insights and thank you for making Filecloud even better for our community.
