It would be nice to be able to change the display name by the user itself (in personal settings). Like changing the profile photo.

This comes handy in case the user was invited using the private share option with automatically account creation. Because in this case it is not possible to set a user name. See: https://community.getfilecloud.com/topic/setting-display-name-from-add-user-dialog

A combination of both would be perfect.

I like this idea

Currently this was disabled as a security measure after some customers complained about it. ie users could create an account and masquerade as someone else.

Maybe this can come back as an optional setting or the ability to set change display name with admin approval.
