Speed up multi-file file deletion on the web
Delivered
Deleting many files in FileCloud on the web is extremely slow when it involves thousands of files. It can take longer than downloading them.
It would be nice to speed this up, or allow closing of the browser during the operation as in the following suggestion.
Filecloud webinterface - move/delete files in "the background"
Thanks for your suggestion.
We will consider this for a future update.

This is a critical change need for the webinterface, in my opinion. It can almost replace Windows Explorer, but moving, copying and deleting simply just must be faster.

Sorry to see this not addressed at all in the latest update. Deleting files through the webinterface is still a laughably slow process. Reminds me of deleting files off a floppy drive.
We're using S3 as storage backend.

We're using S3 as storage backend.
We're using managed Disk Storage (SSD only) in the backend. Also with for us, it is extremely slow.

A complete overhaul is needed. I use seafile privately and it can move and delete files and folders instantly - why can filecloud not? Seems to me that an move/copy/delete request I sent for each folder/file. No wonder it's slow. A complete overhaul is needed.

Any update on this?
We have customers who are really frustrated about it.

File Deletion will become faster in 19.1
This is already implemented and being tested.

Hm. What exactly has been changed? I don't see any difference at all in deleting files with a S3 backend.

For a S3 backend, deleting files might not have a direct impact. But you can compare the difference renaming a folder or moving a folder compared to before. For a local storage backend, deleting files will be much faster.
